This two map sheet shows Egypt and Tunis.  This is Ortelius' map of "modern" Egypt and Tunis (he also produced a map of ancient Egypt, AEgyptus Antiqua Terra fuis contenta....).  The third map on this engraved plate,  Natoliae (Turkey),  was separated from these two maps at some time in the past.

Alexandria, the famous center of learning, Cairo, and numerous other cities appear on the two maps.  Map also shows ships in Mediterranean Sea.

The map appeared in Oretlius' Theatrum...  from 1570 to 1612 as well as the reprint of 1641 (van den Broecke).

Reference:  Van den Broecke, map # 174.  Krogt, Peter van der. Koeman's Atlantes Neerlandici, vol. 3 (Ortelius). 't Goy-Houten: HES Publishers, 2003.

Fine condition overall.  Some uniform age-toning of paper and some oxidation of original color but map image is bright and strong.
