This is the copperplate version of the Ramusio-Gastaldi map of Africa. It generally follows the earlier Ramusio-Gastaldi woodcut map of Africa. In the 1563 copperplate, two additional sea monsters were added in the South Atlantic above TROPICO DI CAPRICORNO.  This map was engraved not due to newer information, but because the 1554 woodcut map was destroyed in 1557, and a new map was needed for the subsequent editions of Ramusio's Delle Navigationi et Viaggi in 1563, 1588, 1606, and 1613.
