This is Abraham Ortelius' famous map of the Holy Land in fine
original color!
The map is centered
on Samaria with east at the top of the map. A
vignette on bottom left shows Jonah falling from a ship into the
jaws of an immense whale. The title cartouche is
surrounded by three medallions, the center one
illustrating the birth of Jesus, the left one the
Crucifixion and the right one the Resurrection.
This map is from Ortelius' Theatrum Orbis Terrarum,
the first atlas that produced a uniform series of maps of the
world. The publication of the Theatrum.Orbis Terrarum can be
considered the starting point for over 100 years of Dutch
supremacy in the production of beautiful maps and atlases.
This map first appeared in 1598.
There is Dutch text on the verso
of this particular map with a signature of page "80"
at the bottom. This map came from
a Dutch edition of Ortelius atlas of 1598 or 1613 (based on
van der Krogt, p. 871).

A wonderful example of this
important map. Beautiful, original color. Generally
a clean example. Very Good Condition with short but
complete margins, and two old, but stable, marginal repairs,
on verso and not within
image.
